Toy Story speaks to the universal desire not only to be loved but to be lovely.
It is a joy to see the alternate, superior scenes that had been cut in favor of Lester’s reshoots, and to see these unburied artifacts pieced together into an entire feature length film.
When I was eight years old, my grandfather began taking me to a magical place called “Saturday’s Market”—a flea market where vendors would arrive each weekend with their vans packed full of miscellaneous junk that would be sifted through by numerous potential customers throughout the day.
His limiting self-mythologizing has ended; he has accepted his past, and although his days are short, he can now live them in peace.
